Program Description

Discover places where history spans thousands of years and the legacy of ancient civilisations continues to impress visitors from around the world. This excursion will take you to Ephesus, one of the most important cities of the ancient world, as well as the picturesque village of Şirince, where tradition and local culture can be found around every corner.

The first highlight of the day is Ephesus – one of the largest archaeological sites in Türkiye and one of the best-preserved cities of the Roman era. Every year, millions of visitors come here to admire its remarkable monuments and experience the atmosphere of antiquity. As you walk along the ancient streets, you will discover fascinating remains of a civilisation that played a key role in the region for centuries.

During your visit, you will see the famous Library of Celsus, one of the most recognisable landmarks of Ephesus. Its monumental façade remains an impressive sight and is considered one of the finest examples of Roman architecture. You will also visit the Great Theatre, which could accommodate around 25,000 spectators and once hosted important events and performances in ancient times.

Next, you will continue to the House of the Virgin Mary, a revered pilgrimage site visited by travellers and worshippers from across the world. According to tradition, this is where Mary spent the final years of her life. The peaceful setting offers a moment for reflection and contemplation.

The programme also includes a visit to a local ceramics workshop, where you can learn more about one of Türkiye’s most celebrated artistic traditions. You will have the opportunity to admire handcrafted ceramic pieces and, if you wish, purchase unique souvenirs to take home.

In the afternoon, you will visit Şirince, a charming village surrounded by hills and orchards. The village is renowned for its stone houses, relaxed atmosphere and locally produced wines. During a guided walk, you will explore its picturesque streets, visit the local market, see the mosque and Orthodox church, and stop at a local wine house. Depending on the programme, there may also be a wine tasting or a visit to a textile shop showcasing traditional regional craftsmanship.

After a day filled with history, culture and local flavours, you will return to your hotel with unforgettable memories of one of the most fascinating regions of Türkiye.

The order of visits and the programme may be subject to change.

A very well-organized trip. Ephesus is worth visiting – one of the best-preserved Roman cities! A vast area to explore. A stunning multimedia presentation at the end. We were accompanied by our guide, Ms. Kinga. She was full of energy and eager to share information about the monuments and history of Turkey. You can ask about anything, and she`s sure to have an answer! Next, we went to the House of the Virgin Mary, where we could write down our intentions on a piece of paper. Next, we visited a ceramics workshop and shop – beautiful handicrafts. Then we went to Şirince – a small village with a wow factor. We visited a winery with a delicious tasting, and there was plenty of time for shopping and a walk around the area – it`s worth going up to the church, which serves as a wonderful viewpoint. The route from the hotels in Cesme is long (over 3 hours), but with Ms. Kinga, the time passed pleasantly, sharing interesting conversations about the country`s history.
