Program Description
Discover the rich history of Sri Lanka and visit two of the island's most remarkable UNESCO World Heritage Sites. This full-day excursion is the perfect choice for travellers who want to explore Sri Lanka's ancient heritage, admire spectacular landmarks and experience its unique cultural and spiritual traditions.
Your first stop is Sigiriya, also known as Lion Rock, one of Sri Lanka's most iconic landmarks. Rising dramatically above the surrounding landscape, this impressive rock fortress was built in the 5th century by King Kassapa. As you climb to the summit, you'll pass the famous frescoes of the celestial maidens and the monumental Lion Gate, marked by its enormous stone paws. At the top, you'll discover the ruins of the ancient royal palace and enjoy breathtaking panoramic views over the surrounding forests and lakes.
The journey then continues to the Golden Temple of Dambulla, the largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka. This UNESCO World Heritage Site consists of five magnificent caves decorated with vibrant Buddhist murals and home to more than 150 statues of Buddha. The peaceful atmosphere and centuries-old artwork offer a fascinating insight into the island's Buddhist heritage and spiritual traditions.
This excursion perfectly combines history, culture and unforgettable scenery, offering an excellent introduction to some of Sri Lanka's most treasured landmarks.
