Program Description

Discover an Andalusia you might not experience on a typical sightseeing trip. Instead of busy resorts, this journey takes you to the small towns of the Axarquía region, where local flavours and everyday traditions take centre stage. Taste freshly prepared churros, explore Alfarnate and Alfarnatejo, and finish the day with a traditional lunch in an Andalusian home.

Your journey begins in Colmenar, where you will taste freshly prepared churros - one of Spain's most characteristic treats. A popular part of Spanish culinary tradition, they are often enjoyed for breakfast. Crispy on the outside and soft inside, they offer a delicious start to your day in Andalusia.

Next, you will head to Alfarnate, where a walk through the town will give you a chance to experience its local atmosphere. The next stop is Alfarnatejo, one of the smallest towns in Spain. Here, you will visit a house museum and taste local products, including sweet Moscatel wine, figs, fig bread, almonds and honey. It is a chance to discover flavours that are characteristic of the region.

The most distinctive part of the day awaits at the end. You will visit a local Andalusian home and enjoy a traditional lunch prepared by the host. Instead of dining in a restaurant, you will experience local cuisine in a home setting and get an insight into Andalusian hospitality.

This is a day of discovering Andalusia through its flavours, small towns and local way of life - from your first churro in Colmenar to a traditional meal around an Andalusian table.

The guide`s vast knowledge! The churros were delicious, the visit to the olive oil factory was okay, although the olive oil was sold in plastic bottles. The visit to the home of the tour`s creator was okay, but the prices of trinkets like honey and fig bread were inflated to suit the tourist, but tasty. Lunch was simple; I think most people expect a feast from the hostess, but it was quite cheap: salad, cheese, and jamon for an appetizer, lentil soup, and the main course was pork slices with baked potatoes, coffee, a slice of babka cake, coffee, and liqueur. If anyone thinks they`ll overeat, don`t. Overall, I recommend it; the mountain views are stunning.
