Program Description
Discover two of Senegal’s distinctive landmarks in one day - historic Gorée Island and the famous Lake Retba. Explore places connected with the island’s history, visit local museums and a craft market, then continue to one of the best-known sights near Dakar.
From Dakar, you will take a ferry to Gorée Island, where a guided visit will introduce you to its history. One of the key stops is the House of Slaves, a memorial site connected with the history of the slave trade. The visit offers an opportunity to better understand the significance of the island and its difficult past.
You will then visit the Sea Museum and the Women’s Museum, offering different perspectives on the island’s history and life. At the craft market, you can browse local products and discover the work of local artisans.
On the return journey, you will visit Lake Retba (Lac Rose). Its distinctive pink colour sets it apart from the surrounding landscape and makes it one of the best-known sights near Dakar.
