Program Description

Discover Palermo, the vibrant capital of Sicily, where centuries of history, diverse cultures and remarkable architecture come together to create a unique atmosphere. This full-day excursion also includes a visit to the magnificent Monreale Cathedral, one of the island's finest examples of Norman architecture.

After being picked up from your hotel, you will travel to Monreale, where you can admire the cathedral's breathtaking golden mosaics depicting biblical scenes. You will then continue to Palermo, a city full of character, history and lively streets.

The tour includes a visit to the Capuchin Monastery and its famous catacombs, one of Sicily's most unusual historical sites. As you explore the historic centre, you will see Palermo Cathedral, home to the tombs of the Kings of Sicily, the impressive Fontana Pretoria, the iconic Quattro Canti square and the distinctive Church of San Cataldo, renowned for its striking Arab-Norman domes.

Your walk continues through the bustling Capo Market, where you can experience the authentic atmosphere of Palermo before reaching the magnificent Teatro Massimo, one of Europe's largest opera houses and a filming location featured in The Godfather. At the end of the tour, you will have free time to stroll through the city, browse local shops or sample traditional Sicilian specialities at the market.

A very interesting program. The guide, Ms. Ela, provided interesting information about Sicily and Palermo. The tour was undemanding, with walks mostly in the shade. Time for coffee, lunch, and shopping. The bus had efficient air conditioning.
