Program Description

Visit the Musée des Arts et Métiers, Europe's oldest science and technology museum, and explore the inventions that shaped the modern world. This fascinating museum showcases the history of scientific discovery, industrial innovation and technological progress through an exceptional collection of historic artefacts.

Among its highlights is the famous Foucault pendulum, which famously demonstrated the Earth's rotation. You will also see the original model of the Statue of Liberty, some of the earliest aircraft, and Pascal's Pascaline – the world's first mechanical calculator.

As you explore the museum, you will discover historic clocks, astrolabes, celestial globes, early flying machines and many other remarkable inventions that transformed science, engineering and everyday life.

Important information
  • Free admission is available for visitors aged 0–25, visitors with disabilities and one accompanying carer, French job seekers, and teachers with a valid ID or certificate.
  • For all visitors, admission is free on the first Sunday of each month and every Friday from 18:00 to 21:00 from 1 September onwards.
  • Scooters, bicycles, suitcases, and wheeled bags of any size are not permitted inside the venue. Bags measuring up to 55 × 35 × 25 cm may be left in the cloakroom.
  • Demonstrations of the Foucault pendulum take place daily at 12:00 and 17:00.
