Program Description

Visit the Conciergerie, one of Paris's most remarkable medieval landmarks, located on the historic Île de la Cité. Once a royal palace and later one of the most infamous prisons of the French Revolution, this Gothic monument offers a fascinating journey through French history.

During your visit, you will discover the former royal residence that preceded the Louvre as the seat of French kings. Explore the prison cells from the French Revolution, including the reconstructed cell of Queen Marie Antoinette, who was held here before her execution.

One of the highlights of the visit is the magnificent Salle des Gens d'Armes, the largest surviving medieval Gothic hall in Europe. Its soaring vaulted ceilings and impressive stone columns reflect the grandeur of the former royal palace.

This is a unique opportunity to explore a monument that witnessed both the splendour of the French monarchy and the dramatic events of the Revolution.

  • Large bags and suitcases are not permitted inside the venue, and lockers are not available.
  • All visitors are required to undergo a security check before entry.
  • The histopad, an interactive multimedia guide available in French, English, Spanish, German, Italian, and Chinese, is distributed to visitors until 16:30.
  • Free admission is available for visitors under 18 years of age, EU residents under 26 years of age, school teachers with a valid teacher's pass, visitors with disabilities and one accompanying carer, as well as French job seekers with valid identification.
  • Free admission is available for anyone on the first Sunday of each month from November 2026 to March 2027.
  • Each ticket is valid for entry for 30 minutes. For example, if your ticket is booked for 10:00, you must enter the building no later than 10:30.
