This excursion is an excellent choice for those who want to experience Albania’s rugged, mountainous side. Your day begins with a morning hotel pick-up, followed by a transfer to off-road jeeps that will take you towards the Shtame Pass National Park. The journey itself is already an adventure, with winding roads, steep slopes, and breathtaking scenery.
Along the way, you’ll stop at a viewpoint overlooking Bovilla Lake - the perfect spot for photos and a moment of awe. The route then continues through nearby villages, where life still flows at a slow pace, untouched by mass tourism.
Next, you’ll head to Kruja, one of Albania’s most historic and distinctive cities, dating back to the 3rd century BC. Its traditional bazaar is full of handicrafts, carpets, ceramics, and local spices - an ideal place to pick up souvenirs while enjoying the unique atmosphere. You’ll also have free time for lunch (not included). If you wish, you can visit the castle, also known as the Skanderbeg Citadel (optional, on your own). Built in the 5th-6th century, it now houses a museum dedicated to Skanderbeg, Albania’s national hero, who led the resistance against the Ottoman Empire from here.
After a day filled with landscapes, history, and off-road adventure, you’ll return by jeep to Durres.
